Dot Hacker melden sich mit neuem Song zurück!

Dass aus Kalifornien gute Musik kommt, ist ja inzwischen bekannt. Oftmals verbindet man damit einen Sound, der einen an die Sonne oder das Meer erinnert – wie bei den Beach Boys. Aber daneben gibt es auch einige Indie- und Alternative-Bands, die einen etwas anderen Sound einschlagen.

Eine dieser Bands sind Dot Hacker. Und doch sind sie ganz anders: bestehend aus vier Profimusikern, die zusammen schon bereits für namhafte Bands und Künstler spielten. Nicht zuletzt ist Josh Klinghoffer seit einigen Jahren als neuer Gitarrist mit den Chili Peppers unterwegs. Aber auch Eric Gardner, Jonathan Hischke und Clint Walsh können eine beachtliche Liste von Künstlern nennen, mit denen sie zusammengespielt haben. Darunter Gnarls Barkley, Beck, PJ Harvey oder Garbage. Es sind also vor allem ihre vollen Terminkalender, welche die Band davon abhalten, kontinuierlich an ihrer Musik zu arbeiten. Und trotzdem veröffentlichen Dot Hacker nach Inhibition (2012) und How’s Your Process? (2014) nun schon ihr drittes Album, N°3, das am 20. Januar erscheinen wird.

Ihren Style kann man eigentlich nicht ganz einfach beschreiben. Ihre Musik ist experimentell, melodiös, melancholisch. Gitarrenlastig, gepaart mit elektronischen Einflüssen. Dann gibt es wiederum Songs, in denen das Piano ganz klar im Vordergrund steht. Dazu metaphorische, teilweise düstere Lyrics, die auch beim mehrmaligen Hören immer noch Spielraum für Interpretationen lassen. Am ehesten wohl vergleichbar mit Radiohead oder Muse.

Dot Hacker veröffentlichen „C-Section“ vorab

Vorab haben Dot Hacker jetzt ihren Opener „C-Section“ veröffentlicht. Der knapp 7-minütige Song verspricht definitiv viel für das neue Album. Warme Gitarrenparts, ein eingängiger Bass und dazu die einzigartige Stimme von Josh Klinghoffer, der übrigens auch das Albumcover malte und im Vorfeld ein paar Worte für das neue Album fand:

 

“Just a few words to accompany the release of this, what we consider, our third record. It was mostly recorded during the middle of 2015 and as usual reflects a group of people who get the chance to create together in little energetic bursts. For a number of strange, obnoxious and uncontrollable reasons, N°3 is coming out on January 20th, 2017. My initial notion was to write something about how on what may prove to be one of the darkest days in recent memory, here’s a little whiney music with mostly unintelligible singing, but which is steeped in hope, for you to enjoy. I know, for obvious reasons, of the aforementioned hope. Then I thought not to play upon the negativity of the day, or mention it all…then I nearly didn’t write anything.

 Basically, for whatever it’s worth, here’s a little more music to throw onto the ever growing pile in the hopes of bringing even the littlest bit of peace, joy, and contentment to the hearts of even one person in these strange, obnoxious and uncontrollable times.” (Quelle: ORG music)

 

 

 

Wir sind jedenfalls sehr gespannt auf das neue Album und hoffen, dass die Band auch in Deutschland immer mehr Hörer findet und vielleicht auch bald mal das eine oder andere Konzert in Europa spielt – trotz ihrer zahlreichen anderen Musikprojekte!
